Part-Time Adult Custodian
29.5 Hours Per Week – Non-Benefited Position
Manti Elementary is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and positive individual to serve as a Part-Time Custodian. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
General Responsibilities
The custodian is responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, and general maintenance of school facilities and grounds. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Emptying trash and recycling containers
- Sanitizing high-touch surfaces and maintaining restroom cleanliness
- Setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and equipment for school activities and events
- Performing minor maintenance and repair tasks as assigned
- Monitoring building security by locking/unlocking doors and securing facilities
- Assisting with seasonal duties such as snow removal, salting walkways, and outdoor cleanup
- Reporting maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to supervisors
- Maintaining custodial equipment and supplies in an organized and safe manner
- Supporting a positive school environment through professionalism, teamwork, and reliability
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work independently and follow directions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed without direct supervision or being asked to complete
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and consistently complete work assignments
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact positively with students, staff, and the public
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions
Schedule & Terms
- Part-time position: 29.5 hours per week
- Non-benefited position
- Hourly wage based on district salary schedule and experience
