School-Based Interventionist
Reports to: Principal
Purpose: To provide instructional support in implementing research-based
interventions as part of the MTSS framework as well as leadership through professional learning and coaching of teachers on effective strategies and recognized best practices to meet the needs of all students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide educational interventions (small groups) and progress monitoring for students who need support in reading, writing, math or other core subjects as directed by the principal.
- Assist classroom teachers and other instructional staff in developing strategies, skills, tools, techniques, and capacity to effectively teach all scholars.
- Model best practices for staff and provide professional development.
- Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties.
- Implement the MTSS framework of increasingly intense student interventions and monitor student progress according to prescribed procedures.
- Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
- Provide the high-quality instruction needed to move students to grade-level proficiency in Reading, Math, or other core subjects.
- Contribute to PLC meetings and/or the MTSS problem-solving teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of the selection and implementation of research-based interventions, literacy development/foundations of mathematics, and behaviors that impact learning.
- Expertise in Multi-Tiered System of Support and Branching Minds platform;
- Knowledge of instructional coaching;
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others in written and oral forms using positive interpersonal skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Possess strong interpersonal, consultation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with educators from various disciplines.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner.
- Ability to facilitate groups of educators through the change process to consensus.
- Ability to provide professional learning opportunities for staff and a keen understanding of adult learning styles.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five years of experience at the grade span level as a teacher or administrator.
- Ideal candidates have a working knowledge of the MTSS framework, data collection, progress monitoring, academic and behavior interventions, and students with disabilities.
