- Manages and optimizes software licenses by developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy, understanding various licensing models and contract terms to minimize costs and ensure compliance.
- Conducts regular software license audits, identifies and addresses compliance gaps, and utilizes Software Asset Management (SAM) tools to track usage and deployments for accurate inventory.
- Negotiates directly with software vendors, building and maintaining relationships, handling license agreements, renewals, and resolving any licensing issues that arise.
- Develops and maintains internal policies and procedures related to software licensing and usage, ensuring organizational alignment with best practices.
- Provides essential guidance and mentorship, offering training to stakeholders on compliance, and directing subordinate staff in license management activities.
- BA/BS degree or 4 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a degree.
- 9 years of experience with 5 years of position relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of software licensing models, contract terms, and industry best practices.
- Within 6 months must be able to obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification, which includes any of the following: CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, and SSCP.
- Experience with software asset management (SAM) tools.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to software licensing.
- International Association of IT Asset Management (IAITAM) Software Asset Management Certification, Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), or similar certification.
- Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
- Must have an active Secret clearance.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
