- Serves as the final Technical Authority for legal interpretation, providing counsel on complex maritime statutes and international law of the sea
- Authorizes the formulation of legal strategies for civil and criminal proceedings and validate the execution of high-value maritime contracts
- Approves legal frameworks that protect organizational rights and obligations in global maritime operations
- Validates the legal compliance of maritime logistics and sustainment operations within the Pacific, ensuring adherence to international maritime treaties and Host Nation port regulations
- Authorizes the review of specialized maritime subcontracts and charters for offshore support vessels to mitigate legal risks in contested environments
- Provides strategic legal guidance on territorial water transits and maritime security protocols for Special Operations missions
- Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to subordinate staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field
- 12 years of position-relevant experience
- Active bar membership in the U.S. jurisdiction
- 15 years of position-relevant experience
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Experience advising PACOM or USSOCOM on maritime legal affairs
- Expert knowledge of the Law of the Sea Convention
- Must possess active Public Trust clearance
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers via email, phone, and virtual communication which may involve delivering presentations
