Holiday Hill Day Camp in Mansfield has been eastern Connecticut’s summer tradition for children since 1960. It is the region's only American Camp Association accredited, state-licensed, independent day camp. The camp offers a broad program with outstanding staff and a safe, nurturing environment. Campers aged 4-14 enjoy an array of activities like swimming, sports, archery, canoeing, ropes courses, crafts, and more, with special leadership training available for grades 9 and 10.
Role Description
This is a contract role for a Summer Group Leader at Holiday Hill Day Camp, located on-site in Mansfield Center, CT. The Summer Group Leader is responsible for leading and supervising a group of campers, planning and coordinating daily activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and providing a positive and engaging camp experience. The role involves direct interaction with campers and requires effective communication with both campers and staff members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Desire and ability to work with children in a camp setting
- Ability to relate to one's peer group
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Ability to lead various activities, with the assistance of a counselor
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- Ability to abide by the philosophies, goals, objectives, personnel policies, rules and regulations as stated by the camp
- Ability & willingness to be active in the outdoors for 7 hours each day. Including instructing or modeling athletic or aquatic activities
Responsible To Division Coordinator, Assistant Director, Directors
General Responsibilities
- Assist direction, supervision, and organization of campers
- Maintain and encourage appropriate relationships with campers, staff, parents, and the community
- Fulfill staff administrative roles and activities
Base $2650 summer salary applies to this year's high school graduates. Each additional year of schooling or experience is a step up the pay scale from there. Additional training, retention and recruitment incentives apply. Opportunities for supplemental hours with our maintenance or events teams are available.
