Electrical Engineer III

Our client, a leader in the energy and utility sector, is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer III to join their team. As an Electrical Engineer you will be an integral part of the Engineering Department supporting critical substation projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to project management, which will align successfully within the organization.

Location: Bakersfield, CA

What's the Job?

• Design and develop primary outdoor physical substations for electric utilities, including power single line diagrams, substation plans, and elevation drawings.
• Perform detailed studies and analyses to ensure compliance with industry standards and local grid codes.
• Produce comprehensive construction details, layouts for high voltage bus, cable, equipment, and control building layouts.
• Apply North American standards & guidelines (IEEE & ANSI), NEC, NESC, and local grid codes to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support renewable energy projects and utility infrastructure upgrades.
  
  

What's Needed?

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering for electric utilities, specifically PG&E and renewable energy projects.
• Hands-on experience in producing power single line drawings, substation layouts, and erection drawings.
• Deep understanding of high voltage substation standards, safety protocols, and equipment specifications.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE preferred).
• Professional Engineering license in the United States or a demonstrated plan to obtain it within a specified timeframe, with the ability to review and seal work under supervision.
