Job Title: Lab Support AssociateLocation: San Diego, CA 92121Anticipated Duration: Approximately 4 months (based on business need)Pay:$22.00–$24.00 per hour (depending on experience)Position OverviewA growing laboratory team is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Support Associate to assist with specimen intake, order accessioning, and administrative support within a clinical laboratory environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate data entry, proper documentation, and efficient specimen processing to support laboratory operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to maintaining accuracy when handling sensitive patient information.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine clerical tasks to support laboratory operations, including filing, document organization, and maintaining logs and records.Verify and match requisitions with specimens and related documentation to ensure accuracy.Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.Receive and open incoming clinical packages and prepare laboratory orders for processing.Accession patient orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with a high level of precision.Identify incomplete, missing, or inconsistent information and coordinate with appropriate staff (such as Client Services or laboratory personnel) to resolve issues.Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.Assist with additional administrative and support tasks as assigned by laboratory management.QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or GED required.Experience1–2 years of data entry or clerical experience preferred.Prior experience in a medical, clinical, or laboratory environment is a plus but not required.Key Skills and CompetenciesStrong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to manage repetitive tasks in a high-volume environment while maintaining quality standards.Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting.Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with data entry systems; experience with LIS or EMR systems is a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
