Overview

The Lead RDA is a critical clinical leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality clinical support, driving patient experience, and ensuring operational excellence across our practice.

This role serves as the clinical lead for dental assistants, setting standards for care, supporting sedation and hospital cases, and maintaining full compliance with all clinical, safety, and regulatory standards. This is a growth opportunity for high-performing assistants ready to lead, coach, and elevate team performance.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Excellence & Patient Care

  • Serve as primary chairside assistant, including sedation and in-office general anesthesia cases
  • Take x-rays, impressions, bite registrations, and perform expanded functions per state guidelines
  • Prepare, monitor, and support sedation patients, including post-operative follow-up calls
  • Deliver clear pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and caregivers
  • Ensure treatment notes and documentation are completed accurately before patient dismissal
  • Support case acceptance through patient education and treatment walkthroughs

Patient Experience & Flow

  • Escort, seat, and prepare patients while maintaining a calm, supportive environment
  • Anticipate provider needs and manage efficient room-to-room flow
  • Coordinate next visits and ensure seamless handoffs
  • Monitor daily schedule flow and adjust as needed to optimize patient experience

Clinical Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain sterilization protocols, OSHA compliance, and infection control standards
  • Oversee room turnover, equipment readiness, and supply organization
  • Manage waterline testing, spore testing, and equipment maintenance schedules
  • Support lab case tracking and timely follow-up
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and all regulatory requirements

Team Leadership

  • Lead by example; coach and support dental assistants in daily operations
  • Assist in training and onboarding of new assistants
  • Reinforce standards for clinical quality, patient experience, and compliance
  • Delegate effectively and hold team accountable to expectations

Administrative & Inventory Support

  • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels; order supplies as needed
  • Support recall systems, referrals, and chart preparation
  • Assist with office operations as needed (phones, insurance support, etc.)

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Support community outreach, patient education, and practice growth initiatives
  • Maintain ongoing continuing education and clinical competency

What You Bring

  • Active RDA license and current BLS certification
  • Nitrous Oxide monitoring certification (if applicable)
  • Experience assisting with sedation and/or hospital dentistry preferred
  • Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control standards
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, multi-provider environment
  • Strong communication, leadership, and patient engagement skills
  • Consistent attendance and reliability

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Prolonged standing and walking (8–10 hours per day)
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting (up to ~25 lbs)
  • Manual dexterity for handling instruments and equipment
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and clinical chemicals
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
