What are the responsibilities and job description for the E-Commerce Sales Manager position at Mano's Wine?
About the Role
Mano’s Wine is looking for an Online Sales Manager to take ownership of growing our e-commerce business.
This is not a traditional marketing role. We are looking for someone who thinks like a salesperson and a merchant—someone who starts every day asking:
“What can we do today to sell more online?”
We have a large and constantly changing portfolio of products, licensed collections, new releases, seasonal opportunities, and existing inventory. We need someone focused every day on turning those opportunities into sales.
You’ll own the day-to-day performance of our online store, identify opportunities, test ideas, merchandise products, improve conversion, and work closely with our Marketing and Design teams to execute quickly.
Your job is simple to define: grow online sales.
What You’ll Do
Own Daily E-Commerce Sales. Monitor the online business every day and understand what is driving performance.
You’ll track:
Revenue and orders
Conversion rate
Average order value
Website traffic
Product and collection performance
Customer behavior
Inventory movement
Promotional performance
But we don’t just want someone who can report the numbers. We want someone who acts on them. If something is working, figure out how to make it bigger. If something isn’t working, figure out why and change it.
Find Ways to Generate Sales
You’ll constantly look for new revenue opportunities across the business. That could mean:
Promoting a product that’s suddenly taking off
Creating a bundle or gift set
Finding a better way to merchandise an existing product
Building a promotion around excess inventory
Bringing back a successful past product
Creating an upsell or cross-sell
Reacting quickly to a sporting event, holiday, championship, or cultural moment
Identifying products we already have in-house that can generate immediate revenue
Testing pricing, offers, promotions, and product positioning
We want someone who sees products and inventory and immediately starts thinking about how to sell them.
Own the Online Store
You’ll help determine what customers see when they visit our website. You’ll actively manage:
Homepage merchandising
Featured products
Collections
Best sellers
New releases
Seasonal products
Product recommendations
Bundles
Upsells and cross-sells
Limited-time promotions
Improve Conversion
Getting more traffic is great—but getting more sales from the traffic we already have can be even more valuable. You’ll continuously look for ways to improve:
Product pages
Product presentation
Offers and pricing
Mobile shopping
Navigation
Product discovery
Cart experience
Checkout
Bundles
Upsells
Abandoned carts
You’ll test ideas, measure the results, and keep improving.
Work With Marketing & Design
You won’t be expected to personally design every graphic, shoot every photo, or manage every marketing channel. You’ll work with our Marketing and Design teams to tell them what the online business needs to sell. You might say:
“This product is taking off. Let’s put more behind it.”
“We have a lot of this inventory. Let’s build an offer around it.”
“This product is getting traffic but isn’t converting. We need to change how we’re presenting it.”
“There’s a major event next week and we already have the perfect product. Let’s move.”
You’ll help set the commercial objective, and our creative teams will help bring it to life.
Email & SMS
You’ll also work with our Marketing team to use our existing customer base to drive additional revenue through:
Product launches
Best sellers
Back-in-stock messages
Limited releases
Flash sales
Bundles
Abandoned cart
Customer reactivation
Repeat purchases
Seasonal opportunities
The primary measurement isn’t simply opens or clicks. It’s sales.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Sales-driven and competitive
Highly analytical
Comfortable making decisions quickly
Obsessed with improving performance
Experienced in e-commerce
Strong in online merchandising
Familiar with Shopify or similar e-commerce platforms
Comfortable with analytics and reporting
Familiar with email/SMS platforms
Creative about finding new revenue opportunities
Comfortable testing ideas and changing direction quickly
Able to work across Marketing, Design, Production, Inventory, Licensing, and Sales
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a merchant mindset.
You should naturally look at a product, inventory position, customer behavior, or upcoming event and think: “How do we turn this into sales?”
How You’ll Be Measured
Success in this position will primarily be measured through:
Online revenue growth
Gross profit
Conversion rate
Average order value
Revenue per visitor
Units per transaction
Email/SMS revenue
Returning customer revenue
Inventory sell-through
Performance against monthly sales goals
What This Job Isn’t
This isn’t primarily a:
Social media position
Graphic design position
Content creator position
PR position
Traditional brand marketing position
Those teams and functions support e-commerce.
Your responsibility is turning those resources into online sales.
