Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with a valid CDL A license, including manual transmission vehicles and specialized trailers such as refrigerated, flatbed, or tanker units.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly according to logistics cargo handling standards.
- Transport hazardous materials (Hazmat) safely in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations and Hazardous Materials Transportation Security Act (HMTSA).
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and compliance records in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and Hazardous Materials Regulations required for safe transportation of dangerous goods.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks related to load & unload procedures safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Proven track record in truck loading/unloading operations with attention to safety standards.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes and safety protocols for hazardous materials transportation.
