About the Role
Manning Kass is a prestigious law firm headquartered in downtown Los Angeles. We are seeking a polished, resourceful HR Specialist to join our headquarters team. The HR Specialist reports to the Director of Human Resources and supports the HR function in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR processes and procedures and provides guidance across the employee life cycle. The HR Specialist works closely with Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll, Finance, and other administrative departments to deliver responsive, high-quality HR support for attorneys and staff.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- :Administer employee benefits and liaise with third-party providers to facilitate enrollments, changes, and issue resolution
- .Manage leaves of absence and accommodation, including STD, LTD, and FMLA, and ensure accurate documentation and communication
- .Coordinate and deliver new hire orientation, onboarding, and staff integration to support a seamless start for attorneys and staff
- .Interpret and implement HR policies and procedures for attorneys and staff, ensuring consistent application and guidance
- .Respond to HR inquiries with timely, accurate information while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- .Manage offboarding processes for voluntary and involuntary terminations, including documentation, systems access, and exit logistics
- .Assist with staff recruiting efforts, including requisitions, screening coordination, scheduling, and candidate communications
- .Maintain complete and accurate digital and paper employee records in accordance with firm standards and legal requirements
- .Collaborate closely with Staff Recruiting, Legal Recruiting, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, HRIS, and Finance to support cross-functional initiatives
- .Process HR documentation, including personnel action forms, payroll forms, and unemployment claims, with precision and timeliness
- .Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and recommend policy updates as laws and best practices evolve
- .Assist with the annual evaluation process and contribute to HR team projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives
