Position Summary
The Deli Team Member is responsible for preparing and serving food, maintaining a clean and organized deli area, and providing excellent customer service. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys food, working with people, and being part of a mission-driven team. No prior deli or food service experience required — we'll train you!
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers at the deli counter with a warm, friendly attitude
- Prepare food items such as sandwiches, salads, soups, and hot bar dishes following recipes and portion guidelines
- Slice, weigh, and package meats, cheeses, and prepared foods
- Stock, rotate, and merchandise deli cases to maintain freshness and visual appeal
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and display cases in accordance with health and safety standards
- Monitor food temperatures and follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Operate deli equipment (slicers, ovens, steam tables) safely and correctly
- Handle cash and process transactions accurately, if working the register
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory counts
- Communicate with team members and management about product needs, customer feedback, or issues
- Support other departments or general store needs as directed
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old (16 may be considered for limited duties, per state labor law)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn about natural, organic, and specialty foods
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs
- Comfortable working with food, knives, and kitchen equipment (training provided)
- Flexible availability, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred (Not Required)
- Prior experience in food service, retail, or customer service
- Interest in health-conscious, organic, or sustainable food practices
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move for most of the shift
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Comfortable working in refrigerated/cooler environments as needed

Schedule
- Deli hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday through Saturday. This position requires a Saturday shift.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
