Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day quality assurance activities within a precision CNC machining environment. This role ensures that manufactured components meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. The Quality Supervisor oversees inspection personnel, drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports production, and promotes a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Quality Inspectors and Quality Technicians.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and company quality standards.
- Monitor incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections.
- Review and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), PPAP documentation, and customer-required quality records.
- Investigate nonconforming material and lead root cause analysis using corrective action methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
- Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process.
- Maintain calibration programs for inspection equipment and coordinate with external calibration providers.
- Analyze quality metrics and report trends, defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer Service to resolve quality issues.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, or other applicable quality management systems.
- Train and mentor quality personnel on inspection techniques, procedures, and quality standards.
- Verify inspection methods using CMMs, optical comparators, vision systems, and precision measuring instruments.
- Review inspection plans and sampling methods.
- Participate in new product introduction and process validation activities.
- Assist with supplier quality evaluations and corrective actions.
- Maintain quality documentation and records in accordance with company and customer requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Quality, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of quality experience in precision CNC machining.
- 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and secondary operations.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with precision measurement equipment including:
o CMM (Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, etc.)
o Height gages
o Micrometers
o Calipers
o Bore gages
o Surface plates
o Optical comparators
o Vision inspection systems
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
