Under the general supervision of the Child Support Director, you will manage a caseload involving the establishment, enforcement, and collection of child support and medical support obligations. This position offers a balance of investigative work, case management, legal document preparation, and direct interaction with families and community partners.
In this role, you will:
- Interview and work with parents to assess their ability to provide child support and medical insurance coverage for intrastate cases.
- Locate absent parents to establish paternity, establish support orders, enforce existing orders, and determine birth expense reimbursement and ability to pay.
- Evaluate cases to determine whether new support orders should be established or existing orders should be modified.
- Prepare legal documents, including petitions, motions, stipulations, judgments, and orders related to child support and medical support.
- Maintain accurate case files, records, and reports in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Review existing child support orders to ensure they remain appropriate and take action to modify inadequate orders through stipulation or court proceedings when necessary.
- Work closely with attorneys, courts, employers, and other agencies to support effective case resolution and ensure compliance with child support laws.
