Job Summary
The Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a full-time Engagement Specialist with a strong focus on marketing, communications, and investor engagement.
We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and motivated professional who brings energy to their work, takes initiative, and enjoys being part of a fast-paced, collaborative team. This person will help tell the Chamber’s story, promote our investors and programs, strengthen our visibility throughout the community, and build meaningful relationships with local businesses.
The ideal candidate is a go-getter who doesn’t wait to be told what needs to happen. They are willing to bring forward new ideas, take ownership of projects, adapt when priorities shift, and jump in to help the team when needed. No two days at the Chamber are exactly the same, so flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude are important to this role.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with marketing, social media, and digital communications
- Creative eye for designing graphics, flyers, programs, and promotional materials
- Ability to create engaging content, including video content across multiple platforms
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable connecting and building relationships with Chamber investors
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team
- Passion for local business, community engagement, and economic vitality
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communications
- Manage Chamber social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Tik Tok
- Develop and schedule engaging social media content
- Write and distribute press releases highlighting Chamber initiatives, programs, accomplishments, and community news
- Create graphics, flyers, programs, advertisements, and other marketing materials
- Assist with newsletters, email marketing, and website updates
- Create photo and video content that communicates the Chamber’s mission and impact
- Develop creative marketing campaigns for Chamber programs and initiatives
- Maintain a consistent Chamber brand and voice across communications
- Assist with grant writing, and application preparation to support Chamber initiatives and community development efforts.
- Help track grant deliverables, deadlines, and reporting requirements, and communicate program outcomes and impact.
Investor Engagement
- Serve as a point of contact for Chamber investors
- Build relationships with local businesses, community partners, and stakeholders
- Assist with investor onboarding, engagement, and retention
- Help connect investors with Chamber resources, programs, and promotional opportunities
- Support outreach to prospective Chamber investors
Programs
- Assist with program communications, registration, and promotion
- Support event logistics and on-site coordination
- Capture photos, videos, and content during Chamber programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, customer service, or a membership-based organization
- Experience managing Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn business accounts
- Strong writing skills with experience developing professional communications
- Proficiency with Canva, Google Workspace, and Constant Contact preferred
- Experience with graphic design, photography, or video content is a plus
- Creative thinker who can develop new ideas and marketing campaigns
