POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Outreach Therapist will develop and implement a comprehensive community outreach plan for Behavioral Services, this unique role will be responsible for addressing and developing a CISM response program for our communities. This position will help develop and implement strategies for community engagement and education. This position reports directly to the Integrated Care Lead Therapist.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and respond to requests for Crisis response when requested by communities.
Develop a CISM team within Maniilaq Service area.
Responsible for developing and implementing public service announcements, and/or community education outreach videos and flyers for Behavioral Health and Social Medicine.
Regularly work with stake holders to develop and implement wrap around services within our communities.
Develop a comprehensive community outreach plan, including Behavioral Health, Social Medicine and Wellness programs.
Work with local Tribes and leadership to develop and host therapeutic youth activities within region.
Assists in coordination of social, tribal, health, legal, community behavioral health, and substance abuse treatment services when requested by community and partner agencies in order to help provide comprehensive and holistic patient care.
Communicates effectively and participates in Behavioral Health staff meetings
Works as a liaison between Behavioral Health Services and communities
Participates in staff in-service training and professional development activities.
Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Community Outreach Therapist I:
A Master's degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Psychology, or Family and Marital Therapy (or the like). Master's degrees must be an eligible Master's for an Alaska State licensure at the time of hire. If the candidate does not have a license eligible Master's degree but has obtained a Doctoral degree that is eligible for an Alaska State Licensure, the Doctoral degree will be accepted as equivalent. Must be able to obtain an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or LAP within 2 years. Broad clinical experience. Ability to work with sensitivity in a cross-cultural environment. Ability to adjust to "bush" conditions in Arctic Alaska. Must be willing and able to travel frequently in small planes. **Please inquire if supervision is currently available**
Community Outreach Therapist II:
Has met all minimum qualifications for Sayaqagvik Youth Therapist I. In addition has obtained at least a Master's Level professional mental health license in Alaska. Examples of qualifying Master's level licenses include Licensed Professional Counselor (under AS and Marital and Family Therapy (under Other qualifying Master's level licensures are (1) Licensure as a Psychological Associate or (2) Licensure as a Master of Social Work. Candidates with qualifying Master's level licensures will still be required to obtain their terminal Licensure (LAP, or LCSW) within two years. *Please inquire if supervision is currently available**
