Responsibilities
- Safely operate child-friendly vehicles, including school buses, paratransit vans, or specialized childcare transport vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Transport children and clients to designated destinations such as schools, daycare centers, medical appointments, or community programs with punctuality and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, caregivers, and team members to coordinate schedules and provide updates as needed.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness; perform basic mechanical knowledge tasks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and vehicle functionality.
- Manage behavior and promote positive interactions among children during transit through effective behavior management techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage logs, safety checks, and incident reports in compliance with organizational policies.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions or concerns from parents or guardians promptly and courteously.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred.
- Has 45 dcf hours (required)
- Proven ability to operate various types of vehicles including school buses, paratransit vans, or
driver roles. - Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings; knowledge of behavior management strategies is highly desirable.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform vehicle safety checks and minor maintenance tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude that fosters trust and comfort.
