The Activity Aide supports the Activities Department in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs that enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents in the nursing facility. This role ensures activities are engaging, safe, and tailored to residents’ needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and executing daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules.
- Lead group and individual activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, and outings.
- Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one support when needed.
- Prepare activity materials and maintain a clean, organized activity area.
- Document resident attendance and engagement in activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote programs.
- Support special events and holiday celebrations.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols during activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt activities for varying physical and cognitive abilities.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent resident interaction.
