Scope and Purpose:

We are seeking a Life Claims Examiner to support our organization’s Life Insurance Claims team at our Utah office. As a Life Claims Examiner, you will review and process life claims submissions with adherence to company policies and contract provisions, in full accordance with the law.  On the job training will be provided to the candidates that are selected for this position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify benefit eligibility.
  • Evaluate claims based on documentation received.
  • Provide prompt communications with Beneficiary Claimants, Funeral Homes, and other related third parties via letters, emails, faxes, or telephone.
  • Ensure appropriate resolution and/or payment of each claim.
  • Assist with phone support as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Graduate or equivalent (GED); Intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 1-3 years of claims experience or in a related position is preferred.
  • Ability to type 40 WPM while maintaining high accuracy. 
  • Life insurance experience or working in a financial setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Possess a customer‐focused mindset.
  • Prior internship or professional experience working in a corporate setting is preferred.
  • Advanced reading comprehension and communication skills.
  • Ability to become proficient with internal computer applications.
  • Excellent phone and computer skills, and an ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner with our customers.
  • Ability to read and understand policy language.  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask to manage workload and meet deadlines.

 

Travel Requirements:

This position may require light travel as needed.  

 

Professional Development:

  • Learn and apply technologies that support professional and personal growth.
  • Participate in employee engagement activities that promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Pursuit of LOMA ALMI designation is recommended for successful hires within three years.
  • Meeting quality standards to progress from a Level I Claim Examiner to a Level III, Senior Claim Examiner within four‐five years.
