Title: Stagehand – Audio/Video

Compensation: $30.60/hour

Domains:

The Stagehand – Audio/Video supports audio, video, communication, and monitoring operations for theatrical productions, performances, and events at Manhattan School of Music. The position reports to Production Management and, depending on the work assignment, works under the day-to-day technical direction of the A/V Lead and/or Production Supervisor.

General Stagehand Responsibilities:

· Participates in load-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers, and strikes as assigned.

· Works in various performance and production spaces at Manhattan School of Music.

· Works collaboratively with production staff, stage management, designers, guest artists, students, and other stagehands.

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

· Must be comfortable using appropriate hand and power tools as required by the assignment.

Audio/Video Responsibilities:

· Communication and Monitoring Systems: Assists with the setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of backstage communication systems, including Clear-Com, as well as orchestra, conductor, and other production video monitoring systems.

· Performance Operations: Supports microphone and equipment handoffs, stage-edge audio/video needs, and other backstage audio/video operations required by the production.

· Coordination: Works with the A/V Lead, Production Supervisor, stage management, and other production personnel to support audio and video setup, sound checks, rehearsals, performances, and strikes.

Job Details:

· This work is performed under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 1.

· The Stagehand – Audio/Video does not have a set schedule and may be required to work evenings and weekends.

· Please note that this is a part-time, as needed position. If hired, you will be added to a list and you will be notified when there is work available.

Job Requirements:

· Previous theatrical audio/video or general stagehand experience preferred.

· Familiarity with professional audio/video systems, backstage communications, monitoring systems, and related equipment required.
