Field Surveyor

Our Oklahoma City Division is currently seeking a Field Surveyor.

Responsibilities May Include:

• Communicates with on-site client supervisors, property owners and the general public as needed.
• Neatly prepares thorough and accurate field notes and sketches for all assigned projects and completes administrative tasks for time keeping and project billing.
• Develops and maintains proficiency in surveying methods and technologies through continuing education and training.
• Reads and interprets maps, survey alignments, and construction documents.
• Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare surveying and legal documents.
• Manage an array of projects, including topographic surveying, boundary determination, and construction layout surveys.
• Preparing construction staking calculations by reading plans and interpreting CAD files.
• Post processing field data collected via total station, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and unmanned aerial systems.
• Research and develop work plans for survey projects.
• Perform survey and utility research.
• Coordinate with survey crews to accomplish project goals.
• Maintain relationships with Contractors, Project Managers, and Superintendents.

Qualified candidate will possess the following:

• 3 years of experience in land surveying for highways, bridges and sites, including boundary and ALTA, topographic, aerial ground control, construction layout, utility, and horizontal/vertical control.
• Proficient with data collectors and data collection techniques, conventional field notes and sketches, total stations, leveling, blueprint reading, and in reporting accurate survey information resulting from the field work.
• Ability to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions (heat and cold) and exposure to traffic.
• Proficient in the use of GPS devices (Trimble and/or Topcon), total stations, conventional and digital levels, surveying calculations, survey and drafting technologies (i.e. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, etc.), preparation and presentation of survey drawing, GPS post processing error analysis and correction.
• Good understanding of various DOT, Federal, State and local industry related specifications.
• Knowledge of the principles, practices and instruments of computer aided drafting land surveying; knowledge of basic civil engineering principles, practices and construction procedure.
• Good working knowledge, or ability to learn, surveying math for roadway and bridge (i.e. Stations, Offsets, Skew Geometry, Vertical Curve Corrections, etc.) to preform layout calculations/checking calculations using construction plans, field data and/or CAD design drawings.
