  • TITLE:** Positive Behavior Certified Specialist

Job Goal

  • The Positive Behavior Certified Specialist works directly with

students to develop and reinforce positive behaviors that support

academic success and overall student growth. The Specialist

collaborates closely with administrators, teachers, counselors,

support staff, and families to ensure students receive timely,

appropriate, and individualized interventions. This role supports

the development of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills

by providing targeted instruction, modeling evidence-based

practices, and contributing to a coordinated, schoolwide approach to

student support.

  • REPORTS TO**: Building Principal.

Job Responsbilities

  • Support students in developing positive behavioral,

social-emotional, and resiliency skills to help them thrive in

school settings.

  • Implement and model evidence-based behavior interventions (ex.

CHAMPS and utilization of restorative practices), including explicit

and intensive behavior instruction for students with significant

behavioral or social-emotional needs through an MTSS model.

  • Use ongoing assessments, data collection, and progress monitoring to

inform interventions and maintain accurate records of student

progress.

  • Recognize and reinforce positive student behaviors and

accomplishments through consistent, meaningful feedback.

  • Collaborate with administrators, social workers, MTSS coordinators,

counselors, and teachers to design, implement, and monitor behavior

intervention plans and tiered supports.

  • Provide professional development and coaching to school personnel on

positive behavior supports, reinforcement systems, growth-mindset,

and behavior-management strategies.

  • Review building-level SEL data, behavior referrals, and related

reports to identify patterns, support decision-making, and assist

with schoolwide practices.

  • Provide transition and integration support for students who are new

to the school or experiencing school adjustment difficulties.

  • Engage families in the behavior-intervention process through

communication, consultation, and home/school support strategies that

strengthen student success.

  • Conduct outreach to re-engage disconnected families and connect them

with needed school or community resources.

  • Serve as a member of multidisciplinary teams to support assessment,

intervention planning, and collaborative problem-solving for

students with behavioral or social-emotional needs.

  • Provide support to building administrators with student supervision,

crisis response, or behavior-related needs when assistance is

required or when administrators are unavailable.

  • Promote effective school-community partnerships and advocate for

services that support students and families.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • For the 2026-2027 school year, USD 383 will pay the full health

insurance premium for employees (Option C and Option D). Short-term

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account

for all certified and eligible employees.

  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff

contribution. Vested after five years.

Technology

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for

certified staff.

**PAID COLLABORATION TIME.**

  • FLSA STATUS**: Exempt
  • EVALUATION**: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance

with the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of certified

personnel.
