Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process sales transactions swiftly and correctly
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and offering product information or demos when needed
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and perform cash handling duties with precision and integrity
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
- Assist with inventory management through stock checks and product replenishment
- Practice professional phone etiquette when addressing customer inquiries or coordinating with team members
Experience
- Prior cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment preferred but not required
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for accurate cash handling and transaction processing
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially in overseeing team members or training new staff
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Experience conducting product demos or upselling to enhance customer engagement and sales performance
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, merchandising, stocking procedures, and customer service best practices
