Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our healthcare facility. Duties
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries.
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, establishing a welcoming environment at the front desk or on the phone.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems. This practice uses Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate accurate billing and claims processing.
- Collect payments and perform medical collections in accordance with HIPAA regulations and billing protocols.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation review and data entry.
- Maintain and update patient records within various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy standards by safeguarding sensitive health information during all administrative activities.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, correspondence, and report generation.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with healthcare providers and administrative colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role within clinics or hospitals.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems, This practice uses Athenahealth
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information at all times.
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and administrative tasks accurately.
