Position Summary

The Associate Psychotherapist is a pre-licensed clinician who provides outpatient psychotherapy services under required clinical supervision. This role emphasizes ethical practice, clinical skill development, and culturally responsive care while meeting documentation, compliance, and productivity expectations consistent with outpatient mental health standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Care

• Provide individual psychotherapy services to assigned clients within scope of practice
• Conduct intake assessments, diagnostic impressions, and collaborative treatment planning
• Utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive interventions
• Engage clinically with issues of identity, culture, race, and systemic stressors as relevant to treatment
• Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries and professional ethics

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete all clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, assessments) within required timeframes (typically within 48 hours)
• Maintain accurate clinical records in compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and payer requirements
• Use appropriate CPT codes and clinical language to support medical necessity
• Participate in documentation audits and quality assurance processes

Supervision & Professional Development

• Attend required individual and group clinical supervision sessions
• Demonstrate openness to feedback and integration of supervisory guidance
• Track licensure hours and professional development requirements in accordance with state regulations
• Participate in required trainings, in-services, and continuing education

Practice Engagement & Collaboration

• Collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and administrative staff
• Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and practice initiatives
• Support Mango Tree’s commitment to equity, cultural humility, and ethical care
• Represent the practice professionally with clients and community partners

Productivity Expectations

• Maintain a minimum of 10 billable clinical hours per week
• Additional hours may be scheduled based on clinician availability, client demand, and practice needs
• Meet attendance, scheduling, and documentation standards as outlined in practice policies

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field
• Pre-licensed status (e.g., LMSW, LSW, LAC, or equivalent, depending on state)
• Actively pursuing clinical licensure and eligible for supervision
• Ability to practice under supervision in compliance with state regulations
• Demonstrated experience, training, or clinical work with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities, including attention to racial, cultural, and intergenerational subjectivity
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing outpatient or community-based psychotherapy
• Familiarity with evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, ACT, trauma-informed approaches)
• Experience working with AANHPI, BIPOC, LGBTQIA , immigrant, or diaspora communities
• Training or clinical interest in racial identity development, migration histories, and intergenerational trauma
• Bilingual or multilingual in an Asian language (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, etc.) preferred but not required
• Comfort engaging conversations about race, power, culture, and identity within the therapeutic relationship
