What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meals on Wheels Representative Drivers position at Manet Community Health Center?
General Definition and Scope of Job:
Manage all functions at assigned meal site relating to the provision of nutrition program and volunteers activities.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Manage assigned dining center to ensure participants feel they have been satisfied with their experience with the dining center. The serving of daily lunches, insuring food service conditions acceptable to fire, health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
2. Learn all HDM routes and cover these routes when necessary.
3. Assist with delivery of HMDs as needed.
4. Coordinate home delivered meals in designated area. Assign the authorized meals to the proper route.
5. Count meals and record temperatures. Ensure proper temperature of hot and cold foods delivered to site. Responsible for the packaging of home delivered meals, which includes lifting of food containers, coolers, etc.
6. Places accurate meal orders daily with Home Delivered Meals Coordinator.
7. Coolers are to be cleaned at the end of each week. Check equipment for cleanliness and maintain inventory.
8. Collects and records donations daily. Deposits made daily at bank.
9. Notify Nutrition Department if a client is suspended or has returned to active status.
10. Coordinate transportation with Councils on Aging and individual drivers.
11. Notify Nutrition Department when clients do not respond for lunch.
12. Notify office of next day's meal count by 10:00 each day
13. Plan, develop and coordinate site programming. Work with Nutrition Department and Site Council to plan programs. Plan at least one special program per month.
14. Increase site attendance by at least two new people per month.
15. Recruit and train volunteers, become the primary source for recruitment. Be responsible for training on all site volunteers and drivers.
16. Supervise all volunteers and/or staff assigned to the dining center. Develop capabilities of volunteers and/or staff. Develop a written schedule for volunteers and maintain a primary and back-up list of volunteer drivers. Be responsible for accuracy of stipend and mileage forms. Maintain up-to-date HOM routes.
17. Maintain project records as required. Daily Food Service Reports to be sent to the office each Friday.
18. Nutrition staff meetings (every third Wednesday of the month) are to be attended as scheduled by the Nutrition Director.
Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Experience with community service program and knowledge of community resources,
3. Sensitivity to the needs of elders; and,
4. Awareness of food service systems, ability to maintain compliance with state and local regulations.
Critical Demands of the Job:
1. Manage multiple requests and prioritize appropriately;
2. Ability to function in a faced paced setting with a variety of patients and staff;
3. Attention to details and prompt follow up;
4. Includes walking and standing for long periods of time, sitting for short periods of time, hand dexterity, clear hearing and speaking ability. Must be able to lift a maximum of 1/3 of their body weight;
5. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and,
6. Must be responsive to multiple deadlines.
Working Conditions:
1. Works in well-lighted environment with comfortable surroundings;
2. Stressful at times due to competing demands, including attention to multiple patients and staff; and,
3. Will comply with all applicable laws, and will cooperate with the Manet Community Health Center compliance program rules and regulations.
Required Availability:
May be required to work evenings, holidays or weekends, if department requires.
