JOB SUMMARY

The School Year MAC Teachers assists with the daily operation of the Mandan After School Care (MAC) program by supporting the Site Supervisor in providing a safe, engaging, and positive environment for elementary-aged participants. This position assists with implementing daily activities, supervising children, promoting positive behavior, and building positive relationships with children, parents, school staff, and coworkers.

STARTING PAY
$12.25 per hour, depending on qualifications and related experience.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist the Site Supervisor with implementing daily schedules, activities, crafts, games, and other recreational programming.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, including playground, gymnasium, classroom, and free play.
  • Actively engage and interact with participants throughout the program.
  • Greet children and parents during arrival and departure and communicate appropriately regarding daily activities, behaviors, and other program information.
  • Monitor participant safety at all times and respond appropriately to emergencies or injuries.
  • Assist with addressing behavior concerns using established program policies and discipline procedures.
  • Notify the Site Supervisor and Recreation Supervisor of incidents, injuries, or behavioral concerns as appropriate.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program environment, including daily setup and cleanup responsibilities.
  • Work cooperatively with MAC staff, school district employees, and parents to support program success.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings, including First Aid/CPR certification as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to establish positive relationships with children, parents, coworkers, and school personnel.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to supervise elementary-aged children in a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately to behavioral concerns and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a dependable and professional attitude.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the majority of the school year.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children is preferred.
  • An outgoing, energetic, and positive attitude.

 

WORK AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is performed primarily indoors in a school setting and occasionally outdoors. The employee regularly stands, walks, bends, and participates in activities with children. The position requires the ability to actively supervise participants and occasionally lift or move program supplies.

 

WORK HOURS

Most work hours are Monday through Friday between approximately 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. during the school year. Additional hours may be required for staff meetings, training, special events, or program needs.
