Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven and customer-focused Lead Salesman to join our sales team. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of food industry expertise and proven sales skills to help drive revenue and foster strong customer relationships. As the Lead Salesman, you will play a pivotal role in executing sales strategies, supporting team goals, and representing our brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Execution
- Build and maintain relationships with purchasing decision-makers, including restaurant owners, chefs, kitchen managers, shop owners and larger food companies/suppliers.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including making "cold" calls to prospective clients.
- Demonstrate the ability to sell value above price by highlighting the quality and benefits of our products.
- Assist customers in identifying comparable products or substitutes for their current needs.
Customer Support & Collections
- Ensure excellent customer service to establish long-term partnerships.
- Monitor collections to ensure timely payments, maintaining strong client relationships.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with the sales team, providing leadership and support to achieve shared goals.
- Manage and mentor a small sales team of 1-2 individuals, ensuring team targets are met.
- Work closely with production management, supervisory staff, customer service representatives, and delivery drivers to ensure smooth operations.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Provide feedback to improve product offerings and operational processes.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- At least experience in any type of food industry would be a plus.
- Proven success in food sales, with a strong ability to communicate with decision-makers.
- Familiarity with the small industrial business environment is a plus.
- Degree in Business or Sales & Marketing is preferred.
Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to sell value over price and build lasting customer relationships.
- Comfortable managing collections and resolving payment issues.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook tools.
