POSITION: Seasonal Worker
STATUS: Temporary / Seasonal
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
PAY RATE: $23.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
The Seasonal Worker supports the maintenance and appearance of District facilities and properties through routine vegetation management and landscaping activities. This role also assists with lead service line inventory inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under general supervision of the Operations Foreman and Service Technicians, this position performs a variety of field maintenance and inspection tasks, including:
- Perform landscape maintenance such as mowing, trimming, watering, weeding, digging, and debris removal
- Operate hand tools and power equipment, including mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping tools
- Conduct excavation around water meters to identify and document pipe material types
- Assist with traffic control operations upon obtaining a Washington State Flagger Certification (if required)
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
- Perform other duties as assigned to support District operations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role may involve exposure to:
- Noise, dust, pollen, rain, and direct sunlight
- Chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides
- Moving machinery and equipment
- Insects and environmental hazards
Employees may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and boots.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical labor
- Stand or walk for extended periods and navigate uneven terrain
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Perform tasks that involve continuous bending, twisting, and climbing.
- Work at heights or near/over water when necessary
- Ability to hear and recognize warning signals or hazards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver’s license at time of hire
- Experience using hand tools and landscaping equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in parks, grounds, or utility maintenance
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits unless required by State law
- Employees are paid monthly on the last day of the month
- This position may require flexibility to support workload demands
