Job Summary
Working under the general supervision of the site administrator or designee, the ELOP Lead is responsible for implementing enrichment activities in an area of expertise or passion (such as music, art, ceramics, sports, environmental literacy, gardening, etc.) for groups of different ages of children spanning grades TK-8. These activities should promote learning, problem-solving, and growth in all developmental areas, be developmentally appropriate and safe, reflect children’s learning styles, and meet the needs of all children. The ELOP Lead is responsible for the direct supervision of groups of children enrolled in the TK-8 after-school program. There are currently 2-3 flexible, part-time positions available. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS >Designs engaging lessons, provides lesson instruction, and implements enrichment curriculum that is age-appropriate, literacy-based and supports the school site’s academic goals, objectives, and vision >Accompanies children on field trips and off-site activities as needed >Communicates regularly with parents and children, establishing support and gaining their trust while maintaining confidentiality and building positive relationships >Works as part of a team and collaborates effectively with colleagues, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships >Works effectively in a strong service environment, prioritizes effectively with competing needs, and adapts to changing priorities >Immediately reports any form of prejudice and/or discrimination and helps promote a positive acceptance and understanding of all cultures >Keeps the site administrator or designee informed of all matters important to the program >Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and pre-approved learning opportunities in accordance with professional needs and interests >Maintains and submits accurate timesheets, as well as program records and reports required for the afterschool program >All other duties as assigned
Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED *High school diploma or the equivalent *Preferred: Two years of college (48 units), OR, AA degree, OR, Bachelor’s Degree, OR Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction *Current CPR/First aid certification, or willingness to obtain if required *Current Mandated Reporter training, or willingness to be trained after hire *Preferred: 2 years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school-age children in a school setting *Preferred: English/Spanish bilingual *Outstanding skills in relationship-building, oral and written communication *Experience with effectively managing time, schedules, and resources and the ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment *Sharp attention to detail *Excellent interpersonal relations and problem-solving *Able to lift objects up to 30 lbs *Hiring is contingent upon passing a background check and fingerprinting results
