Court Security-P/T

Monitors the security system in Building Control to include: cameras, alarms, security access areas, courtrooms, monitors the Judicial Center exit doors, completes a security check of the outside of both the Judicial Center and Historic Courthouse and monitors x-ray screen for contraband and weapons. Performs security screening of persons entering the Judicial Center, observes the public for any suspicious behavior, answers questions and directs the public on where they need to go. This position helps to evacuate personnel and the public from the Judicial Center in emergency situations. Other responsibilities included, but not limited to, opening the Judicial Center in the mornings, starting up and inspecting the security equipment at the beginning of duty, answering the phones, maintaining daily logs, and notifying supervisor of any incidents.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

• Required to speak and hear clearly. Often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 
• Requires close vision.
   

TASKS

• Directs the safe and expeditious evacuation of all courthouse personnel and the public from the Judicial Center according to procedure and consistent with agency  policy.
• Closely monitors the x-ray monitor, determines whether an item is cleared or requires open inspection based on signals of the unit and observations of images on the screen.
• Conducts a daily inspection of the x-ray machine to assure that it is in proper working order according to specifications.
• Accurately completes and forward to the supervisor daily logs which include the daily inspection of the x-ray machine and all confiscated property for that day.
• Successfully completes all assignments to specifications, within specified timeframe and budget as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations. 
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Current valid Florida Driver's License required.
