What you will be doing: You’ll be responsible for coordinating all work-based learning (WBL) activities both on and off center for all students. Coordinate work-based learning for those students who do not reside in the local area, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions
- Plan and coordinate all on and off-center work-based learning sites for students on center. These sites should encompass all career technical training offerings.
- Facilitate new, local and distant work-based learning sites for students to obtain the necessary work experience.
- Log and track all work-based learning hours for students in the work-based learning program in center information system (CIS).
- Establish a network of employers that consist of paid and unpaid sites. These sites should be both local and distant. The distant sites will represent work-based learning opportunities for students.
- Work with career technical training instructors to ensure students are learning the necessary skills to maintain success on the WBL site.
- Attend all CRC and CIC meetings to ensure that consistent connections are being made with local employers and business to continue opportunities for students.
- Work closely with the business community liaison at community events to publish and promote the WBL program.
- Maintain a spreadsheet and other tracking documents regarding all students who are enrolled in the WBL program.
- Assess students’ work skills, appearance and articulation skills before they are sent to a work site.
- Conduct work-based learning seminars with students and instructors to highlight the importance of the WBL sites and expectations of the site.
- Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
- Participate in student employability programs and activities.
- Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree and two years’ related experience. Direct related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
- Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills, and computer proficiency required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
