Detention Officer

Marana Detention Center | Marana, AZ 
$28.00 per hour | Full-time 

Responsible for the custody and discipline of detainees assigned to the facility in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

What you will do 

• Search for contraband and provide security.
• Count, feed, and supervise detainees in housing, work, and other areas.
• Provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees
• Perform security of various assigned areas.
• Perform specific security functions including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. May also be required to climb ladders or stairs in search of contraband.
• Transfer and transport detainees by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive detainees, as needed.
• Required to work rotating shifts and all posts assignments.
• Maintain the secure custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees, which includes long periods of standing and sitting.
• Required to make periodic rounds of assigned area which may include long periods of walking and standing.
• Read, review and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainees’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.

What you will need 

• High school diploma or GED required
• At least 21 years of age
• US Citizen or Lawful US Permanent Resident required.
• Prior corrections or detention experience is highly desired.
• Must successfully complete required preservice training.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
