Tax Preparer

Management Business Solutions is seeking a Tax Preparer for its client, a small 17 year-old tax services and accounting firm located in Taylor, MI. This person will be responsible for preparing individual Federal / state / local tax returns, while working accurately and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role is built on scheduled face-to-face meetings with clients to prepare returns per their individual financial circumstances and needs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Prepare individual Federal, state and local tax returns accurately and efficiently.

·        Consistently manage and complete in timely manner a high-volume workload of tax returns during the tax season.

·        Conduct in-person client appointments to gather and organize financial information, review documents, and complete required tax filings.

·        Provide guidance on current and future tax-planning strategies to meet client needs.

·        Identify potential tax credits and deductions to minimize client tax liabilities.

·        Input, verify, and maintain tax-related data in the designated software system.

·        Stay up-to-date with and ensure compliance with IRS regulations and tax law.

·        Provide excellent customer service and clear explanations of return details to clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 2 years’ experience in individual tax preparation required.
• CPA firm or accounting practice experience a plus.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software, including Thomson Reuters Tax Software.
• Experience with similar tools such as Drake Tax, Lacerte Tax, or CCH Axcess Suite is a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload during peak season, processing at least 15-20 returns per day in a normal workday.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

·        Experience maintaining confidentiality and security of client information and documents.
