Position Summary

DATA CENTER

Project Managers are responsible for overall planning, execution, financial performance, customer communication,

contract administration, procurement coordination, scheduling, project controls, and successful closeout of

assigned electrical construction projects.

The Project Manager owns the project. The role is accountable for making sure the project team, field leadership,

vendors, internal departments, and customer stakeholders remain aligned around safety, budget, schedule, quality,

documentation, and project outcomes.

Reporting Structure

A Project Executive is assigned to every project. A Senior Project Manager is assigned based on project size and

complexity and is not present on every project. The reporting line below reflects that variability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has project-level leadership responsibility and may directly lead Assistant Project Managers, Project

Engineers, and Project Coordinators as assigned. The Project Manager is accountable for project execution, financial

performance, documentation discipline, customer communication, and project-team development. On projects

where no Senior Project Manager is assigned, the Project Manager reports directly to the Project Executive and holds

full accountability for the project leadership responsibilities described in this document.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

• Lead assigned projects from startup and turnover through execution, closeout, and final financial resolution.

• Develop project goals, execution plans, staffing approach, procurement needs, schedules, budgets, and

communication expectations.

• Coordinate project work across field operations, design/BIM, prefab, purchasing, safety, QA/QC, accounting,

vendors, subcontractors, and customers.

• Identify project risks early and implement practical mitigation or escalation plans.

Financial Management and Forecasting

• Maintain accountability for project budget, forecast, cost reports, billing, cash flow, change management, and

margin performance.

• Review labor productivity, material costs, vendor commitments, subcontractor costs, and project financial

status regularly.

• Lead project financial reviews and explain variances, risks, and recovery actions clearly.

• Protect project profitability through disciplined forecasting, documentation, change recovery, and cost control.

Contract Administration and Change Management

• Administer project contract requirements, RFIs, submittals, change orders, correspondence, documentation,

and closeout obligations.

• Identify, price, document, negotiate, and track changes in scope, schedule, cost, and project requirements.

• Maintain documentation strong enough to support customer communication, claims avoidance, billing, and

project closeout.

• Ensure project team members understand contract and documentation expectations.

• Escalate claims, disputes, and requests for non-standard contract terms to the Senior Project Manager or Project

Executive rather than resolving them independently.

Team, Field, and Customer Leadership

• Serve as the primary project point of contact for customers, general contractors, key vendors, and internal

stakeholders.

• Support field leaders with information, material planning, issue resolution, documentation, schedule

coordination, and project priorities.

• Lead Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators with clear assignments, review

expectations, and follow-up.

• Build a project culture based on safety, accountability, communication, professionalism, and problem-solving.

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrated ability to independently own the full scope of a project — planning, financial performance,

schedule, contract administration, and customer relationship — without requiring day-to-day oversight from a

Senior Project Manager.

• Sound judgment in identifying and escalating risk, negotiating day-to-day scope and schedule items with

customers, and protecting project profitability.

Project Management Track

• Comfort operating with full accountability on projects where no Senior Project Manager is assigned.

Preferred

• Experience owning projects of increasing size, complexity, or risk profile.

• Experience with contract negotiation, claims exposure, or project recovery situations.

• PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent industry qualifications.

Preferred Software Experience

• Procore or equivalent project platform — full budgeting, forecasting, and change-management workflows for an

entire project.

• Microsoft Excel — independent financial forecasting, cost control, and margin analysis.

• Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 — schedule ownership and updates.

• ERP and project accounting systems — direct use for billing, cost reporting, and financial oversight.

Work Environment

• Frequent, regular jobsite presence combined with office-based financial and contract management

responsibility for the full project.

• Operates independently, with full accountability for the project's safety, financial, schedule, and customer

outcomes — including on projects where no Senior Project Manager is assigned.

• Pressure centers on project-level financial performance, contract risk, and being the primary point of

accountability for customers and internal leadership alike.
