What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Operator position at MANA NUTRITIVE AID PRODUCTS, INC.?
Purpose:
The Maintenance Operator operates, adjusts, maintains and repairs the packaging equipment in a peanut butter facility which produces RUTF (Ready to Use Therapeutic Food) for children suffering from SAM’s (Severe Acute Malnourishment).
It is the expectation of each employee to perform tasks with the utmost of integrity to ensure food safety, legality, and quality requirements are always maintained within the capacity of the assigned position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No formal supervisory responsibilities: however, this position will be an informal leader in Operations.
Duties:
- Responsible for the start-up and shutdown of production equipment
- Ensure cleaning and routine preventative maintenance is properly complete
- Adjust, fine-tune and monitor packaging machines during operation
- Perform minor repairs of packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot packaging quality and mechanical issues during operation
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with major repairs and downtime maintenance
- Maintain records of production and maintenance activities
- Perform work safely by following EHS procedures
- Observe food safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and packaging materials.
- Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong computer skills including experience with HMI and PLC basics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think critically and solve complex problems, as well as seek proactive solutions.
- Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Prefer a technical college diploma/degree in manufacturing, industrial systems, mechatronics, or related fields
- Prefer 1-2 years’ experience in food manufacturing
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods in loud, noisy environments.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking in production environments.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to reach, stoop, crawl, climb, kneel, bend and other combinations of body positions.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
