Facilities Technician

Title: Facilities Technician
Summary: The Facilities Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of the MAN Los Angeles facility. This position is responsible for leading HSEQ initiatives, maintaining facility equipment, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across workshop and field service operations.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) – 40%

• Lead monthly safety meetings with site leadership to promote a culture of safety.
• Collaborate with the HSEQ Manager to maintain and ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Plan and execute annual emergency drills with workshop and field service teams.
• Conduct annual facility inspections and ensure alignment with ISM standards.
• Monitor and enforce safe work practices among mechanics and engineers.
• Perform regular audits, including:
• Annual external and internal audits
• Monthly 6S audits
• Safety and environmental building inspections
• Oversee Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) KPIs, provide training, and follow up on action items.
• Conduct stormwater sampling and maintain accurate records.
• Manage waste disposal and coordinate with approved vendors.
• Maintain calibration records in AssetPanda and schedule renewals with vendors.
• Update and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Support additional HSEQ tasks as directed by the General Manager and HSEQ Manager.

Facility Maintenance – 60%

• Maintain and repair fixed workshop equipment per preventive maintenance schedules:
• Lathes, blasting booth, floor washer, hose reels, washing station
• Log equipment maintenance in AssetPanda and report issues to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Coordinate unscheduled equipment repairs, including vendor quotes, site visits, and execution.
• Schedule routine vendor maintenance:
• Quarterly: crane inspections
• Annually: air compressor, cranes, rigging equipment
• Every 4 years: crane load testing
• Maintain and repair work area floor markings.
• Perform daily inspections of forklifts and cranes before shift start.
• Conduct monthly inspections of flammable cabinets, ladders, and fire extinguishers.
• Partner with the Workshop Supervisor to uphold 6S Lean Organization standards.
• Manage inventory of consumables and ensure adequate stock levels.
• Maintain facility permits (e.g., business, fire, hazardous waste generator).
• Support shipping, receiving, and warehouse organization under Workshop Supervisor guidance.
• Liaise with IT to maintain internet connectivity and troubleshoot local IT issues.

Required Education: High school education or equivalent.

Required Experience:

• 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferred.
• Background in marine or facility engineering.
• Skilled in mechanical, electrical, and piping systems; proficient with hand tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards and IMS systems.
• Knowledge of CAL OSHA, California state and City of Carson safety/environmental regulations.

Physical Requirements: May require the ability to climb, or maneuver to small spaces to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.

Pay range for this role is $32.15/hour to $49.52/hour.

Your actual base rate of pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package.
