Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, self motivated and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of QuickBooks Online, GAAP, IFRS, and SOX standards. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, and adherence to all regulatory requirements. The Controller will lead the accounting team, manage financial systems, and provide strategic insights to support organizational growth and stability.
Duties
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll process.
- QuickBooks Online Experience.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and other regulatory standards relevant to nonprofit, governmental, or corporate accounting environments.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses such as balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial forecasts.
- Create company policies.
- Manage cash flow and cash management activities to optimize liquidity.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
- Oversee regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate audits with external auditors.
- Implement and maintain accounting software systems such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero, or other financial management tools.
- Develop budgets, perform variance analysis, and support strategic planning initiatives through detailed financial analysis.
- Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions utilizing double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Supervise the accounting team to foster professional development and ensure high-quality work standards.
Requirements
- Highly self motivated who takes initiative.
- Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on corporate or nonprofit environments; experience in governmental or public accounting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- QuickBooks Online Experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; advanced skills in financial software are preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in cash management, budgeting, financial analysis, account reconciliation, and technical accounting concepts including debits & credits.
- Experience with payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable management.
- Excellent financial report writing skills coupled with strong analytical abilities for forecasting and financial management.
- Create company policies.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear insights for executive decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
