What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referral Specialist position at MAMMOTH HOSPITAL?
A Referral Specialist is responsible for the professional and efficient management of the outpatient referral request process across all hospital outpatient clinics and departments. This role involves a variety of functions related to patient referrals, including but not limited to verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, processing referrals—both internal and external—and managing patient demographics, insurance information, and related records with outside facilities and providers. The Referral Specialist tracks referral progress and ensures completion in a timely manner.
Additionally, the role demonstrates a foundational understanding of the Revenue Cycle and Power Chart systems to support seamless referral operations.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor and process incoming ambulatory referrals promptly and efficiently.
- Answer multi-line telephones, take clear, detailed, and legible messages, and transfer calls to the appropriate department as needed.
- Respond to inquiries regarding patient referrals, directing clinical questions to the appropriate provider or clinical staff.
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to resolve any obstacles encountered during the referral process.

- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred.

Job Information:
- Full-time, day shifts including Saturdays.
- Starting wage $22.00 to $26.67
