About the team You will be leading the Platform Engineering team that builds and operates the core cloud platforms supporting Mambu’s global banking workloads. The team is responsible for the infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD systems, and developer tools that power billions of secure transactions across multiple regions.
We work closely with Product Engineering, Security, Architecture and Cloud Operations to ensure the platform is reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient. The focus is on automation, scalability, and simplicity — continuously improving how our products are built, deployed, and operated at global scale.
What you’ll do
- Set a clear mission, principles, KPIs, and roadmap for the Lending product area, fully aligned with tribe objectives.
- Partner with product, architecture, and operations to deliver features that meet customer, regulatory, and performance needs.
- Embed tech debt reduction as a strategic priority, ensuring the platform evolves with lower maintenance overhead and higher adaptability.
- Champion AI-augmented development approaches—such as AI-assisted coding, test generation, and documentation—to increase throughput, shorten cycle times, and improve quality.
- Drive adoption of strong engineering practices: pair programming, test-driven development, CI/CD optimisations, automated quality gates, and peer reviews.
- Build a high-autonomy, high-alignment culture with streamlined decision-making and effective cross-team collaboration.
- Ensure operational readiness, cost efficiency, performance, scalability, and compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Represent Lending engineering in strategic discussions with customers, executives, and other stakeholders.
What you’ll bring
- 10 years building and operating SaaS, cloud-native, API-driven platforms; ideally in banking, fintech, or other regulated sectors.
- 5 years of hands-on Java engineering and cloud technologies before moving into senior leadership roles.
- Proven ability to scale distributed systems with high performance, resilience, and cost control.
- Demonstrated success in addressing technical debt while maintaining or increasing delivery velocity.
- Experience applying AI tools and data-driven engineering metrics to improve productivity and code quality.
- Strong leadership skills—trusted by teams and stakeholders to drive change and deliver results.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage confidently with executives, customers, and global teams.
- Comfortable leading in a remote-first, multi-time-zone environment.
