What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Malvern School District?
Plan and prepare lessons aligned with instructional standards that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Collaborate with other teachers in professional learning communities.
Assess academic and social growth of students, maintain appropriate and current records, and provide progress reports as required.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Create a positive and inclusive educational climate for students that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures, and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Effectively implement district initiatives by following expectations given from administration both verbally and written.
Participate in the approved evaluation process, and obtain required professional development training.
Refer students for alternative services as provided by the district (ESL, Special Education, G/T, and Dyslexia).
Serve as a role model to students by following ethical and legal behavior.
Follow the code of ethics for educators, including all HIPPA and FERPA laws and guidelines protecting student information.
