What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse - Night Shift MBH Ford Road position at MALVERN INSTITUTE FOR PSYCHIATRIC & ALCOHOLIC STUDIES?
Malvern Behavioral Health is currently seeking full-time Registered Nurses at our upcoming BRAND NEW Malvern Behavioral Health facility located at 3905 W. Ford Road Philadelphia, PA 19131 to work the night shift from 7:00pm - 7:30am. The night shift Registered Nurse position has an every other weekend commitment. Malvern Behavioral Health focuses on key stressors that adults struggling with drug and alcohol dependency and mental health issues, provides individualized treatment, and works with each person to develop proper support, skills, and education so they can thrive in everyday life. Our trauma-informed and recovery-focused trained staff take great care to provide a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment.
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Provide medical management and assessment of patients. Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through. Make patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitor their performance of duties. Provide training & education to staff, patients, families, & others. Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu. Work with referral sources and ensure timely review of pending referrals which includes review of clinical information with physicians for appropriateness for our programs. When indicated, working with insurance companies to complete pre-certifications for clients.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
- Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
- Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation

To perform the Nurse role all applicants must be a Registered Nurse in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Clinical experience in the treatment of addiction and mental health experience is preferred. Current CPR certification. Knowledge of Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Program and Commission of Accreditation for Rehabilitation standards.
Previous nursing experience is preferred but not required.
