Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding Contractor to support fabrication, installation, modification, and repair projects at customer sites throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and surrounding Midwest locations. The ideal candidate will have strong stainless-steel TIG welding experience, excellent workmanship standards, and the ability to travel as projects require. Spanish-English bilingual skills are highly preferred.
Duties
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum components.
- Fabricate, fit, and install process piping, tanks, structural components, and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld procedures, and specifications.
- Complete sanitary welds for food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, or industrial applications as required.
- Conduct field repairs, system modifications, and equipment upgrades at customer facilities.
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
- Operate welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding, and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
- Work independently or as part of a project team to complete jobs on schedule.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.
- Travel to project locations throughout the Midwest as required.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of TIG welding experience.
- Demonstrated experience welding stainless steel tubing, piping, and sheet metal.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and P&IDs.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in industrial environments.
- Ability to pass weld tests and site-specific safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience in dairy, food processing, cheese manufacturing
- Experience with orbital welding, sanitary tubing, and hygienic process systems.
- AWS welding certifications or equivalent credentials.
- Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift certifications.
- Experience leading small field installation crews.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 10-25% travel depending on project workload.
- Occasional overnight travel throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and neighboring states.
- Mileage, lodging, and project-related travel expenses reimbursed as applicable.
