 I.  University Overview

III.  Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Campus Visits and Events Manager in the planning and execution of multiple visitations and special events as well as assisting in the recruitment of students and assisting the Director of Admissions with specific initiatives as assigned. 


IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning recruitment events including helping choose/reserve venues, brainstorming event details and schedules, creating visit folders, compiling visit gifts and decorations, creating outdoor signs, working with our food service provider, printing out materials, recruiting student workers to help run the 


 event, communicating with those involved in the day  (registrants, faculty, administration, admissions, staff, students), and updating playbooks, ensuring the event runs smoothly, speaking in front of the group at the event if needed, coordinating staff/students, filling in where needed for the event (ex: willing to give a campus tour if we need more tour guides or willingness to lead activities or sessions), following up after the event (data entry, thank you letters or cards, tracking of success/show rates, etc…) and organizing all event supplies that were returned to the office

  • Assists in planning and running campus visits including creating visit schedules for students registered for personal visits, and communicating with the students, assisting with the flow of the visit as needed, and ensuring that any follow up needs are met

  • Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and with conference rules and regulations regarding the recruitment of athletes.

 

VI.  Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for undergraduate work
  • Registered and enrolled in a full-time graduate program


 

VII.  Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment 
  • Evening and weekend work may be required

 

 

Additional Information:

 

  • 20 hours per week
  • Graduate Assistants may receive up to 18 credit hours per academic year (maximum of 9 per semester) of tuition remission in exchange for up to 800 hours of service.  The term of this position is August 1 - May 31 and is for one academic year unless it is shortened by poor performance, completion of the degree or withdrawal from the program.  The tuition voucher is for courses toward degree requirements only.  Any unused portion of the voucher expires at the end of the academic year and may not be carried over to the next year.   Graduate Assistants are responsible for payment of all academic fees, room, meal plans and tuition beyond the voucher.  In some cases, housing and meal coverage may be extended as part of the assistantship.  As an employee, Graduate Assistants will receive a W-2 reflecting the value of service for tax filing purposes.  Graduate Assistants should consult their tax advisor to discuss the tax implications.
