Assistant Professor of Environmental Science (Tenure Track)

POSITION SUMMARY

Malone University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Science to help build and launch an Environmental Science Major which has been identified as a strategic growth priority of the university. This major would expand our existing Environmental Science minor, be housed in the Division of Natural and Health Sciences, and be built in partnership with faculty from our nationally recognized Zoo and Wildlife Biology Program.  Individuals with practical expertise in Hydrology, Geology/Hydrogeology, Water Management, Environmental Chemistry, Sustainability, and Geospatial Analysis are particularly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with environmental law and policy would also be beneficial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

● The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester
● Teach lecture and lab courses such as geology, geospatial analysis, hydrology, soil science, environmental law and policy and other courses within the applicant’s area(s) of specialization
● Establish external partnerships to connect Malone students with community members
● Advise and mentor students and supervise undergraduate research
● Engage in scholarship and community service
● Serve on departmental and institutional committees

QUALIFICATIONS

● Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Hydrological Sciences, Soil Sciences, or a related field by August 2026 
● Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring, professional development and scholarly research 
● Commitment to the Christian faith and a commitment to the integration of faith and learning in the academic discipline
