Key Details
- Unit: PCU/IMC Float Pool (Multiple units)
- Population: Adult to Geriatric patients
- Specialties include: General Medicine, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Renal, Urology, Post-Surgical, Orthopedics, Trauma, ED Observation, Rehab, Bariatrics, Psych/Detox, ENT, and more.
Requirements - Minimum 2 years PCU/IMC experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with cardiac drips, insulin, heparin, and Ativan drips
- Must be comfortable titrating and managing critical drips
- Prior neuro and Epic experience preferred
Clinical Expectations - Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3–4 (based on acuity)
- May float across MS, Tele, PCU/Stepdown, and ICU (low-acuity holds when needed)
- ICU holds may be assigned based on skill level
- RT support available (vents, BiPAP, CPAP, etc.)
Scheduling & Shifts - 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM / 7 PM–7 AM)
- Schedule created by leadership every 6 weeks
- Travelers must be flexible to fill staffing gaps
- Weekend requirement: 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday rotation may be required
- Rare call/standby for low census
