Travel RN – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD) | 13-Week Contract
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD)
Shift: Nights or Rotating (6:45 AM/PM – 7:15 PM/AM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Requirements
- Active RN License
- BLS & ACLS required
- Experience with epicardial pacing and chest tubes
- Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips
Unit Highlights
- 22-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–6
- Self-scheduling available through a scheduling committee
- Block scheduling may be considered based on unit needs
Patient Population
- Bradycardia
- Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib)
- Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- NSTEMI
- Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- CVA/TIA
- Post-op CABG (Day 1)
- TAVR
- Post-op VATS, Lobectomy, Wedge Resection
- Chest Tube and Tracheotomy patients
Clinical Skills
- Titrate:
- Cardizem
- Amiodarone
- Procainamide
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Heparin
- Insulin (occasionally)
- Chest tube management
- Epicardial pacing
- Telemetry monitoring (monitor technicians interpret rhythms)
- No ventilator patients
Unit Support
- Charge nurse with patient assignment
- Nursing supervisor available 24/7
- RT available hospital-wide 24/7
- IV Therapy Team performs all IV starts
- Nurse aides available (approximately 1:15 ratio)
Schedule & Orientation
- Nights only or rotating days/nights
- Every other weekend
- Holiday rotation required
- No call required
- Travelers are first to float
- One 12-hour orientation shift with a preceptor
Submission Requirements
- 50-mile local radius rule applies
- Unexpired driver's license must be included with submission
- Any licensing/background issues must be disclosed at the time of submission
- No artificial nails (dress code requirement)
