• 2nd Floor – 25 Private Bed Unit
• 23 Med Surg beds 2 Medical Decision Unit beds
👩⚕️ Patient Population
• COPD with exacerbation
• CHF patients
• Swing Bed patients (avg stay ~12 days)
• Post-amputation care
• Wound care
• Long-term antibiotic therapy
• Occasional post-partum & pediatric patients
📊 Nurse-Patient Ratio
• Standard Ratio: 1:4
• 1:5 (rare / stretch)
• Dedicated Charge Nurse every shift – does not take patients
👥 Support Staff
• Central telemetry monitoring 2 portable monitors
• 3 Case Managers Social Services on the floor
• 1–2 Nurse Aides / Unit Clerk typically available
• Lab available 24/7 (handles blood draws)
• Therapy team sees patients multiple times daily
💊 Pharmacy Coverage
• In-house Pharmacy: Until 11:00 PM (Mon–Fri)
• Remote Pharmacist: Overnight & weekends via UNMC
