Med/Surg RN (5S Unit) – Quick Screening Summary
Shift: 12-hour Days or Nights (7A–7P / 7P–7A)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (Sat/Sun)
Charting: Epic
Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Radius Rule: 50 Miles (Driver's License required with submission)
✅ Active RN License
✅ BLS Certification
✅ Recent Med/Surg experience
✅ Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
✅ Comfortable caring for cardiac, respiratory, renal, orthopedic, and oncology patients
✅ Experience with EKGs and aerosol treatments for non-vented patients
✅ Unexpired Driver's License included with submission
- Typical Ratios: 1:5–6
- Occasionally 1:7 based on census/acuity
- Charge Nurse on every shift
- Days: No patient assignment
- Nights: Takes patient assignment
- CNAs available on all units
- RT available in-house 24/7
- IV Team available:
- Weekdays until 10 PM
- Weekends until 3:30 PM
- 24/7 In-house Pharmacy with Accudose
- CHF
- Chest Pain
- Post-Cardiac Cath
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Chronic Renal Disease
- Orthopedic Patients
- Oncology Patients
- Chemo administered by permanent staff only
- May float to similar Med/Surg units
- If floated to Critical Care, traveler will only take Med/Surg or Step-Down appropriate patients
