RN – Med/Surg
Shift: 12-hour Days/Nights (0645-1915 or 1845-0715)
Facility Requirements
- BLS required
- NIHSS required
- ACLS is a plus
- EMR: Sunrise
- 52 private beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6–7 (typically 1:7)
- Charge nurse carries a full assignment
- 4–6 CNAs per shift (approx. 1:10–12)
- General Med/Surg
- Orthopedic post-op
- Neuro post-op (laminectomy, discectomy, spinal fusion)
- General surgery
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Cellulitis
- Chest pain
- Hemodialysis patients
- Peritoneal dialysis experience is highly preferred
- Strong Med/Surg experience
- Comfortable with:
- Heparin drips
- PCA pumps
- Post-op orthopedic and neuro patients
- Medical diagnoses
- Experience with telemetry preferred (monitor tech reads strips)
- EMR: Sunrise
- IV Team and PICC Team available 24/7
- RT available 24/7
- Pharmacy/Pyxis available 24/7
- Uses BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow Oxygen
- Every other weekend
- Days: Saturday/Sunday
- Nights: Friday/Saturday
- Holiday rotation required
- Floating to other Med/Surg or Oncology units (may float to IMC for Med/Surg overflow only)
- No block scheduling
- Hospital orientation
- 2 full unit orientation shifts
